Nature Inspired Design An event by .IT_All_About_Deisgn @ Clerkenwell Design Week London, 21st – 22nd – 23rd May 2013 ..IT_All About Design 20-26 Rosebery Avenue – London EC1R 4SX Showroom opens daily 9AM – 10PM ..IT concept store will be opening its showroom and wine bar doors during Clerkenwell Design Week. .IT is the promoter and organizer of a three day event based on the sustainability of DESIGN. During the first two days, 21st and 22nd of May, with the support of TOSCANA PROMOZIONE, .IT are involving their Tuscan Companies to present their collections and approach to design. Italian brand EDRA are presenting a speech explaining relations between design, social sustainability and inspiration from Nature. This event also has the cultural support of the Embassy of Brazil in London. Drawing inspiration from Brazilian street life and carnival culture, the brothers FERNANDO AND HUMBERTO CAMPANA combine found objects – such as scraps of wood and fabric off-cuts – with advanced technologies to create a vibrant, energetic and definitively Brazilian approach to design. The EDRA’s FAVELA chair, designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana, is the perfect result of this inspiration process: is a small armchair without any structure made from many pieces of natural wood, similar to those with which the shacks of the favelas or shanty towns are built in Brazil. Glued and nailed together by hand one over the other. The hand crafting means that each seat is a unique piece. Moreover, BRACCIALINI, another Tuscany fashion company, is coming to speak about a charity association they have in Brazil, AmazonLife; the Brazilian trademark devoted to protecting the environment and promoting a sustainable lifestyle. Amazonlife is a brand that strikes a balance between nature and fashion. Their mission is not to destroy, but, rather, to give new life through unique and exclusive creations to what would otherwise be destroyed. The collaboration of Indios with the Amazonlife project represents an economic alternative for local populations, thus contributing to the diffusion of their culture and to the protection of the last great lung of the Planet. The event will continue with contributions from representatives of all the other Tuscan Companies, such as: ARCHITETTURA SONORA, LA FALEGNAMI, FALEGNAMERIA 1946, PARCHETTIFICIO TOSCANO, BERNI and Paolo Flori Atelier. All these companies will show their products in ad-hoc installations. “.IT” will also have the pleasure of introducing the work of two Tuscan Jewellery design Brands: Antonella Tanzini and Mariasole Gioielli. For the third day, 23rd May, .IT is the promoter and organizer of another special event to present two unique Brands: FIAM and Della Rovere. Organic and Nature-Inspired Design is also a common subject for these brands. The talks will be an opportunity for designers and design critics to show and share their work in an informal creative atmosphere, followed by an evening party in the .IT wine bar with complimentary drinks and canapés.
