In honor of its tenth anniversary and the launch of New Practices New York 2016, a biennial, juried portfolio competition organized by the New Practices Committee of the AIA New York Chapter, the Committee is organizing an event bringing together previous winners of the past five generations of the award. Hosted by sponsor Cosentino, the global leader in natural stone, quartz, and architectural surfacing, the event will gather some of the most innovative practices in New York to discuss the unique approaches to their work and reflect on the state of architectural practice in New York City. The New Practices New York 2016 competition is open to architecture and design firms founded since 2006 and located within the five boroughs of New York City. This year’s theme, “Prospect,” centers around the questions: How are new firms shaping their practice around the prospect of the future? What are the most important challenges they see facing the City over the next three months and in thirty years? What will they focus on? Where are they headed? How will they thrive?
