Sheila O'Donnell and John Tuomey will discuss their ways of working and how they think about architecture. They will describe some recently completed buildings and show current work in progress. Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey founded O’Donnell + Tuomey in 1988. They have built widely in Ireland, exhibited at the Venice Biennale, and received the 2015 Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Their projects include Glucksman Gallery, University College Cork, 2004; Sean O'Casey Community Centre, Dublin, 2008; Timberyard Social Housing, Dublin, 2009; Lyric Theatre, Belfast, 2011; and the London School of Economics Saw Swee Hock Students’ Centre, 2014. They are currently working on a campus redevelopment for the Central European University in Budapest and a new cultural and education quarter on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London, which includes new buildings for the Victoria and Albert Museum and Sadler’s Wells Theatre. Both teach at the University College Dublin. The Bartlett International Lecture Series is free and open to members of the public on a first come, first seated basis. Places are limited so early arrival is recommended. More info at www.bartlett.ucl.ac.uk/architecture/events/odonnell-tuomey-bartlettils
