For the second year in a row, Palm Springs Modernism Week organizers are giving modernism aficionados an early taste of what the annual February 11-day event will provide as they participate in DOCOMOMO National Tour Day on October 8. But in typical fashion, Modernism Week officials have built in even more fun beyond the single tour day and expanded the celebration with four days of events October 5 -8, 2012.
DOCOMOMO is an acronym for the international organization devoted to the DOcumentation and COnservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the MOdern MOvement. DOCOMOMO promotes the study, interpretation and protection of the architecture, landscape and urban design of the Modern Movement.
As it did last year to celebrate the DOCOMOMO National Tour, Palm Springs Modernism Week will again offer its most popular event, the Modernism Week Double Decker Architecture Bus Tour as well as 4-days of other fun options. DOCOMOMO’s National Tour Day is held over the Columbus Day holiday weekend October 5 - 8, 2012. Tickets to all of Modernism Week DOCOMOMO events will be able to be purchased after Labor Day. The 8th Annual Palm Springs Modernism Week will be held February 14-24, 2013.
