Hayyez is pleased to announce an open call for proposals to engage with the theme of “Isolation Devices” for the Park it Here exhibition.
Park it Here, curated by Hayyez in partnership with ArtMedium, is a part of Art Week Amman. It will feature installations, multimedia art works, and performances. The exhibition opens on Saturday, September 7th at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts Park and its surrounding gardens in Jabal Lweibdeh.
We are inviting submissions from a wide variety of exhibitors, whose diverse observations and proposals will form the core of Park it Here. Participants can include architects, urbanists, designers, artists, film makers, musicians, choreographers, theatre directors, writers, poets, and others. Proposals can be for exhibits in a wide range of media: texts, drawings, models, photographic images, film, installations, full-scale pavilions, etc.
The overall theme for the exhibition is “Isolation Devices”. This theme is interpreted as an exploration of spaces in which people seek isolation (or to break isolation) within the urban context of Amman. Submissions under the proposed theme must include the following elements:
1. A written statement (between 200 and 500 words).
In answer to the question: “how would you envision an isolation device”?
2. A representative image of an isolation device.
To answer the same question as above. This can be an original design or a reference; a plan, a line drawing, a 3D computer render, a sketch, a photograph, a still from a film, etc.
3. A summary description (between 200 and 500 words) of the manner in which you might be interested in participating in Park it Here.
Beyond the short statement (1) and the representative graphic image (2) mentioned above: what would you wish to contribute and in what form?
Each submission should also include contact details, any copyright /credit of works, and any special requests for assistance from the curatorial team, if any (e.g., transportation assistance, special types of exhibition space, etc.)
We welcome applications from individuals or team collaborations.
Selected applicants will be contacted on or before Tuesday, 6 August 2013.
