PointCrowd : November 9-11. New York City We are happy to announce our fall Rhino.Python workshop for architects and designers interested in computational techniques. The workshop will be held at New Horizons Learning Center in Midtown Manhattan map from 9am-6pm on November 9-11. For more information and to register, please visit www.pointcrowd.com. With the forthcoming release of Rhino 5.0, RhinoScript will be moving to a new syntax: Python. The new, more intuitive interface for manipulating Rhino from the inside will give us the opportunity to quickly and easily create a wide variety of complex systems based on simple rules that are easily implemented with no prior programming experience. We will introduce RhinoScript for absolute beginners, including the basics of programming techniques (variables, flow control, etc.) as well as the working knowledge of how Rhino represents geometrical objects such as points, curves, surfaces and even text. We will then move quickly into techniques for automation and generative design which will address the specific ways in which each student will use Rhino.Python. Students will produce a final project that will be an exploration of the formal consequences of complex systems. This class is primarily for architects and designers but anyone with a knowledge of Rhino is welcome. The curriculum is designed to accommodate students with no programming experience while letting seasoned coders delve deeply into the powerful geometrical infrastructure provided by Rhino. Topics include: Introduction to programming Python. The mathematics of space. Introduction to NURBS and Rhino data structures. Automation. Systems for generative geometry. We will be covering these topics in depth in addition to several others. To see the curriculum from previous versions of the class, visit www.pointcrowd.com/curriculum.php. Please see some examples of student work from our sessions in January at MIT and June in Boston at www.pointcrowd.com/gallery.php. Hope to see you in November!
