The L.A. Conservancy's 2015 Last Remaining Seats, the popular film series that presents classic films in historic theatres, kicks off with "Psycho" at the Million Dollar Theatre. Considered one of Alfred Hitchcock's best films, this psychological thriller stars Anthony Perkins, Vera Miles, John Gavin, and Janet Leigh. Leigh plays Marion Crane, an Arizona secretary who embezzles $40,000 from her boss and goes on the run. A wrong turn off the highway leads her to the secluded Bates Motel, where she encounters proprietor Norman Bates (Perkins), a nervous man who may be a bit too attached to his mother. After having dinner with Norman in the motel parlor, Marion returns to her room for a relaxing shower. The rest is cinematic history. Just for opening night, props from the movie will be on display at the theatre, courtesy of NBCUniversal Archives & Collections. The L.A. Conservancy started the film series in 1987 as a way to draw attention to L.A.'s historic theatres. The film series has now become a summer tradition, drawing thousands of people from the region, the nation, and outside the U.S. Tickets are on sale now and are $20 for the general public and $16 for Conservancy members.
