This year’s Sarajevo Green Design Festival will be held from September 9th to September17th 2011 and represents a joint effort between the Faculty of Architecture (University of Sarajevo), Art Academy Sarajevo, Collegium Artisticum gallery, Association of Applied Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and University of Twente (The Netherlands).

The festival will cater to a rich and diverse programme including workshops, lectures of world renowned speakers on the subject of future of cities, architecture, product design, industrial design and the role of creative and production industries in the sustainability agenda of the 21st century. Hence, it will include book promotions, international exhibitions and business meetings which will be held both in Sarajevo and Mostar, as this year special attention will be given to energy and energy potential issues. The festival as such is unique in the world.

We are proud to present as part of this year’s programme Dr. Ken Yeang, architect best known for developing environmental design solutions for high-rise buildings, passive-modelow energy skyscrapers, known as bioclimatic skyscrapers, as well as Michael Braungart and Michael McDonough - founders of “Cradle to cradle” philosophy, Jan Brouwer and many more. Thirty experts, designers and professionals from around the world, from London, New York, Kualalumpur, Hamburg, Lichtenstein, Vienna, Amsterdam, Den Haag, Istanbul, Zagreb, will hold lectures and take part in interactive debates on issues varying from green urbanism, architecture, solar energy and other alternative energy sources, mobility, product design, branding, inclusive design to cultural heritage. All this will be supported by 15 international exhibitions, electrical cars exhibition as well as many social events and concerts.
Sarajevo Green Design Festival has become a broad platform for: collaboration between creative and production industries; knowledge transfer through workshops with students; and exchange of ideas on different scales of design though international lectures, debates and exhibitions.
