Urbanism-focused magazine Satellite is holding a launch party and fundraiser to celebrate the release of its fourth issue, which focuses on New York City. The issue includes reflections on the city from architects, urban planners, journalists, photographers, musicians, teachers, and more. We’ll kick things off at 6:30 sharp with short talks about the relationship between cities and culture. Speakers include: Caron Atlas Director, Arts & Democracy Project Co-director, Naturally Occurring Cultural Districts NY Adam Forman Research and communications associate, Center for an Urban Future Author of Creative New York Edwin Torres Deputy commissioner, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Sharon Zukin Professor of sociology at Brooklyn College and the CUNY Graduate Center Author of Naked City: The Death and Life of Authentic Urban Places Stick around for music from Brooklyn-based, Colombia-inspired Yotoco at 8:00.
