The direct, physical realization of computer visualized, three-dimensional form, holds the promise of a new era of architectural design methodology.
The manufacturing and production of scaled models and exotic shapes has taken center stage as a viable generator of design rules; the REAL inexorably, and without precedent, linked to the VIRTUAL.
Now more than ever complex modeling explored on the computer, either by scripting or through the direct manipulation of form, has a tangible output: Three-Dimensional Printing.
The impact of this important technology, its generation of form from virtual models, the potential of its expanding role in design practice, will be the subject of the roundtable/panel discussion: SHAPESHIFTING.
