The Faculty of Architecture at the University of Palermo will be hosting Shohei Shigematsu, director of OMA New York, at Jean Jaures 932/6. Shigematsu has acted as lead architect for many projects in various phases including the Whitney Museum Extension in New York. The lecture begins at 18:30 hr on April 8th and will focus on OMA’s recent work. Shohei Shigematsu (1973) is a graduate of the Department of Architecture at the University of Kyushu in Japan and studied at the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam, he joined OMA in 1998 and became partner of the firm in 2004 and currently is the Director of OMA New York and has worked on projects such as CCTV Headquarter in Beijing, the expansion of the Whitney Museum in New York and the Bicentennial Tower in Mexico, among others. OMA is a leading international partnership practicing architecture, urbanism, and cultural analysis. Led by Rem Koolhaas, the work of OMA has won several international awards, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2000. Lecture is Free. La Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Palermo, recibirá al arquitecto japonés Shohei Shigematsu, socio del prestigioso estudio de arquitectura OMA -Office For Metropolitan Architecture- del arquitecto Rem Koolhaas. La cita será el viernes 8 de abril, a las 18:30 hs., en la sede Jean Jaurès 932. El arquitecto Shohei Shigematsu, director de la oficina OMA/AMO en Nueva York y especialista en el análisis arquitectónico, urbanístico y cultural, explicará la manera en que el trabajo de OMA y el análisis de AMO, el estudio de diseño e investigación de la compañía en la oficina de Rotterdam, Holanda, conectan cada proyecto con su contexto cultural, político y económico. OMA, Office for Metropolitan Architecture, es una de las firmas de Arquitectura más reconocidas a nivel mundial y es liderada por el legendario arquitecto holandés Rem Koolhaas, autor de algunos de los diseños mas paradigmáticos de los últimos años como lo es la torre de la cadena china de televisión (CCTV) en Beijing. Acerca del arquitecto: Shohei Shigematsu (1973) es graduado del Departamento de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Kyushu en Japón y estudió en el Instituto Berlage de Amsterdam, ingresa en OMA en 1998 y se convierte en socio de la firma en el 2004; actualmente es el Director de OMA/AMO NY y ha trabajado en proyectos como el CCTV Headquartes en Beijing, la ampliación del Whitney Museum en NY y la Torre Bicentenario en México, entre otras.
