The College of Environmental Design at the University of California, Berkeley, is offering three summer programs that introduce the study of architecture – [IN]ARCH, landscape architecture – [IN]LAND, and sustainable city planning – [IN]CITY. The curriculum emphasizes the preparation of materials for application to graduate study in one of its disciplines. [IN]ARCH and [IN]LAND are eightâ€week summer programs that begin on Monday, June 21, 2010 and end on Friday, August 13, 2010. Program fee for 2010 is $3,900. In addition, University enrollment fees are approximately $450. [IN]CITY is a six week summer program that begins on Tuesday, July 6, and ends on Friday, August 13,2010. Program fee for 2010 is $2,900. Each program consists of a lecture series, a design or planning studio, and either a seminar or media course. Faculty from the Departments of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, and City and Regional Planning serve as the lead instructors. All classes are held in Wurster Hall, home of the College of Environmental Design, on the UC Berkeley campus. DEADLINE TO APPLY: Applications are due on April 10, 2010 WHO SHOULD APPLY: Berkeley [IN]STITUTES in Environmental Design are open to postâ€baccalaureate students or seniorâ€level undergraduates (with a gradeâ€point average of 3.0 or better) with majors in other fields who are interested in testing their enthusiasm for the material and culture of environmental design.
