Paul Smith has built his archetypal British label on a foundation of playfulness, an impeccable eye and a steely business sense. He’s barely looked back since setting up his first shop with wife Pauline Denyer in 1970 – he’s been knighted, had his own exhibition and owns 230 stores worldwide.
