Begun in Washington, D.C. in 1990 as a partnership that harnessed the power of community to help cut crime in and around Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park by over 95%, Washington Parks & People has now helped revitalize over 200 green spaces across the capital, growing park-based community health, equity, and vitality. Steve Coleman, co-founder and president of Parks & People, will speak about the inspiring lessons learned from this effort and issue a call to action for the new Think Outside campaign.
