The standard 1950s Agip gas stationis not only a prime example of a type of industrial architecturehitherto neglected in research, it is, equipped with bar and Tabacchi, also a symbol of the Italian economic boom and an expression of the increasing mobility and modernization of an entire nation. The exhibition displays for the most part previously unpublished photographic material that revives the spirit of a new beginning and the optimism of a whole decade.
