Time: 6:30 p.m. Join GLUCK+ at its office for drinks, informal conversation, and a behind the scenes look at recent and upcoming projects. This program is part of First Friday, a monthly opportunity for League members to visit the offices of leading design practices to see work on the boards and learn more about the offices’ organization and design processes. These informal social gatherings feature happy hour drinks arranged by the host office. Responsible for the design, construction, and commissioning of buildings, GLUCK+ embraces an architect led design build approach. GLUCK+, founded in 1972 in New York as Peter Gluck and Partners Architects, continues to work between the boundaries of designing, making, and building. Residential work includes the Stack, the first steel and concrete modular mixed-use development in New York, Floating Box House in Austin, and the Tower House in upstate New York, which was selected by Architectural Record for their Record Houses issue in 2013. Other recent projects include The East Harlem School (learn more on Urban Omnibus) and Bronx Preparatory Charter School. Current projects include the Duke University Marine Laboratory in Durham and Cary Leeds Center for Tennis and Learning in Crotona Park, the Bronx, which received the NYC Public Design Commission Award for Excellence in 2012. Tickets First Friday events are free and open only to League members, who may bring one non-member guest. RSVP required to {encode="[email protected]" title="[email protected]"}. To become a member and attend this program, join here. Reservations for this event open to members on April 21st. http://archleague.org/2014/06/gluck/
