“The Iconic Iconoclast: Vladimir Kagan” in conversation with ELLE DECOR editor in chief, Michael Boodro. ELLE DECOR, De Sousa Hughes, and the Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center, Edwards Harris Pavilion have partnered to present renowned furniture designer Vladimir Kagan. Join fellow modernism enthusiasts for an intimate discussion in the Annenberg Theater about the journey of one of the greatest mid-century designers, whose work is more popular than ever. Following the presentation please join Mr. Kagan for a book-signing and VIP cocktail reception in the Architecture and Design Center’s Plaza area with special access to the exhibition “Bauhaus twenty-21: An Ongoing Legacy – Photographs by Gordon Watkinson.” Kagan was born 1927 in Germany and came to the United States in 1938. His earliest focus was on painting and sculpture but in his formative years he became exceedingly attracted to architecture and design. He studied Architecture at Columbia University and in 1947 joined his father, Illi Kagan, a master cabinetmaker, to work in his woodworking shop and learn furniture making from the ground up. About the book – “Vladimir Kagan, A Lifetime of Avant-Garde Design by Vladimir Kagan”, preface by Tom Ford, Forward by Zaha Hadid. Published 2015 by Pointed Leaf Press. Price $85.
