'Welcome Home' Exhibition

3 Dufferin Street London, UK | 3 Dufferin Street London, UK

image You are warmly invited to the opening night of architecture exhibition 'Welcome Home' by Carla Novak on Tuesday 8th Jan at 6pm at the Dreamspace Gallery, London Dreamspace Gallery 3 Dufferin Street, London Opening Night Tuesday 8th Jan 6 - 9 pm Exhibition open 8th - 11th Jan 2013, 10am - 5pm www.adrem.uk.com/dreamspace-gallery About the exhibition: Through a series of careful and reflective studies of everywhere I have ever considered ‘home’, this exhibition explores the possibility of the ephemeral qualities of architectural space such as memory, identity and persona being represented through the accepted practice of architectural drawing of the ‘physical’. The process of selection and drawing of ‘moments’ or periods of time captured within the drawings suggests a hierarchy of life events that read as a diary. Subsequently, the collection of studies seek to approbate architectural drawing as a media for representing and testing one’s notion of ‘self’. It is hoped that the drawings might stimulate in the viewer a recollection of spaces and objects that imbue a sense of their own identity. About Carla Novak Through her work Carla explores her interest in architectural vernacular and actively subverts the often jarred relationship between the contemporary and the nostalgic, as well as pursuing the 'extra-ordinary' within familiar urban contexts. Her work has won numerous awards and has been exhibited in London and across the South-East, as well as in Houston and Dallas, USA. www.carlanovak.co.uk @carla_novak
