World Architecture Day heads east this year to Shanghai for a 3-day summit embarking on a debate surrounding urban mobility. As the global population rises and the world becomes increasingly mobilised, we will be looking at ground-breaking initiatives and infrastructure developments that can support and sustain this growth. Concentrating our discussions around the proposition ‘Towards 8 billion: moving the city’, we will also be addressing the wider issues within urban mobility, from logistics and finance to urban regeneration and people flow. WAD14 will begin with a series of workshops held within consulates offices and architects’ studios across Shanghai, followed by an afternoon of seminars and presentations for delegates to choose from. On the following day we will explore the findings of the workshops through panel discussions, complimented by a debate stimulating programme of keynote speeches and presentations. Official WAD evening celebrations will be held on both days. We will be rounding off our 3 day summit with building tours of iconic structures around Shanghai. Delegates will get the opportunity to tailor their own day by selecting the tours that appeal to them. http://www.worldarchitectureday2014.com/
