FROM AN EARLY AGE IT WAS CLEAR THAT MICHAEL JACKSON WAS DESTINED TO
BECOME IMMORTALIZED THROUGH HIS PASSION AND DESIRE FOR MUSIC. HIS LEGACY WILL FOREVER REMAIN. THE FOCUS FOR THIS PROJECT WAS TO PORTRAY MICHAEL’S PUBLIC PERSONA THROUGH AN OBJECT OF AWE AND MAGNITUDE THAT WILL LAST FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. THE INSPIRATION HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM THE
PRESIDENTIAL BUSTS CARVED INTO MOUNT RUSHMORE. WHAT BETTER WAY TO
PORTRAY THE LIFE OF A MUSICAL ICON?
LOCATION : HUDSON RIVER
SCALE : 10M X 20M X 30M STRUCTER X 6PIECES

MICHAEL JACKSON WILL DANCE FOR EVER WITH HIS SIGNATURE POSE AND SIGNATURE MOVEMENT, FLOATING ON THE HUDSON RIVER WHICH IS LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE CITY THAT REPRESENTS POST-MODERN CULTURE.
The memorial depicts how through his music, Michael changed the world. This bronze statue and fountain will be the first thing that greets you as you walk through the newly re-opened Neverland Ranch. This, along with a few other additions to the park, such as a new rollercoaster, 3-D Moonwalker theater, interactive video performance with Michael and a 152ft effigy of Michael made from concrete, will be the perfect way to remember the man who changed all of our lives with his visions.
BROADCAST : Programmable Monument for the Emperor of POP
We need the show to GO on. The magical spirit of MJ should never die. The proposal seeks to perpetuate his theatrical movements by levitate all those who come and seek his grace. The exterior skin can be energixed thru the day and fed electronically at night to the city. The sun’s resource would allocate and recieve transparent silicon PV transmitters that fed into a Daktronics flexible LED Billboard. People can climb into the statue and interactively (haptically) become immersed…
Michael Jackson was made of the same consistency as dreams. Dreams are made of moonlight, of stardust. So was he. Through him, we have been projected from our dreaming little rooms out on a stage, in front of thousands of people, miles away. On August 29, or as close as the astronomic conditions allow, we project his essence on the moon, a reflection of a star, and we commemorate him by looking out to the sky from all the dreaming little rooms of this world. btp
The eternal concert is to have a statue of Michael Jackson on a small stage in the centre of a vast crowd of statue fans which have been cast from real people wanting to show their eternal gratitude. People from all walks of life can have their figures cast in a pose which they think would best show their respects to the great man. When visiting the memorial they can walk through the crowd of statues and walk right up to Michael and be in his presence, as well as all of those who honour him.
This fragmented sculpture of polished gold plated steel sheets set apart from each other , assembles itself complete only when viewed by the urban pedestrian. The gold sheets that make up the face of Michael Jackson start as small pieces and grow in size toward the end of the sculpture. The growth symbolizes the child start turn larger than life king of pop known for his golden extravagance and the pieces, like a puzzle, represent the always evolving and unforgettable faces of the king of pop. A fragmented man, a puzzling life, a larger than…
never land a memorial ensuring michael jackson lives forever as his gilded casket carrying his body
is set from rocket into the atmosphere to embrace the world with an everlasting eccentric low earth orbit.
My proposal for a monument to Michael Jackson is a large scale installation on the surface of the moon. Vast squares would illuminate much in the same way the surfaces in the music video for “Billie Jean” did when touched by Michael’s feet. Visible from Earth, the squares would mimic the path of a walk across the moon. The constantly changing pattern of light would remind the world of a life that did the same.
I propose that we create a monument to MJ on the Moon: a series of man-made mounds and valleys making a likeness of Michael. Only a lunar scale construct could possible capture the grandeur of Michael’s life, the man who had aspirations for the Moon. It is the only place that can be seen from all of the globe by everyone every day. Most importantly the Moon will be there as long as civilization if not long after our civilization has gone. Truly the monument to his spirit that will live forever.
Michael Jackson, A true music legend. He had the moves, the voice, the charisma and he gave us the incredible Moonwalk. A man who has inspired and touched so many across the world and brought races together. Through his songs and dance, he taught us to heal the world, and that we are the world…we are the ones to make it a better place..
I felt that its important to include these elements; the earth and the moon. During the day. the globe would be the earth and during the night, it will turn into a moon…illuminated…
Many Speeches Can Be Heard, Many Words Can Be Written, Hundreds Of Comments Can Be Broadcasted, But Something May Not: Anything Can’t Be Himself. He Built Bridges Between Continents And Cultures, He Talked For Those Who Have No Voice, He Screamed At The Injustice, But Above All, He Showed Us The Way To Change The World, Listening And Helping Each Other. He Sent A Message To Us; We Must Hear It. The Star Is Shining In The Night, Waiting For Somebody Willing To Start To Change The World.
A mold would be made of Jackson’s body.
From this a lead sculpture could be cast.
This sculpture would be worked until it reflected an idealised image of Michael Jackson.
A mobile crane would be purchased.
It would carry the sculpture around the world’s great ring roads until global oil reserves depleted.
Made of a soft metal the idealised form would be susceptible to impact damage and vandalism. The flawless image would be brutalised if people didn’t take care of it.
In the memory of the greatest artist ever lived on this earth, one monument is not enough to represent his greatness.
He should be remembered all around the world, in places who reach to his indelibility.
This collection of images is just a gesture of how the world could be dominated by Michael’s memory.
A gold-plated wind turbine powers an interactively-lit dance floor and speaker system. Michael Jackson’s music plays day and night for the fans that congregate in these remote sand flats.
"Remote, self-generating power. Plus bling. It works for me."
- Michael Bierut
"MB's right that this one has necessary bling; and in combining that shine with remoteness, gets rights at heart of something essential about MJ... Suggests gold-plated solitude when empty, but also could…
“SOLO DANCE” represents the essence of MJ, the beauty of the artist on the stage where only care about their music, their dance, where he was born and lived the King of Pop.
The monument consists of a diamond covered zeppelin to 50 meters high projecting an eternal light on the ground waiting to begin their dance michael.
Hovering between the lime-light and shadows, earth and outer space, and black and white – Michael requires a monument to embrace the polarities of his character. Two ‘Moonwalker’ robots simultaneously etch Michael onto the moon’s surface & Meteor Crater (Arizona). ‘Earth Michael’ is wrapped by a circular ramp that carves through the craters walls and leads to an observation platform. The same moon that transformed Michael in Thriller is now a transforming global monument to our beloved pop icon.
Early one morning people as people go about their lives they notice something new in the square, a block of ten thousand cds. Nostalgic or curious, each person takes a keepsake with them as they continue on their day. Word spreads quickly and a crowd gathers. As people come and go the block disintegrates, spreading its contents throughout the city. By nightfall it is all but gone. That night, ten thousand people put a cd on, though it is only a moment and they soon forget…
Long after every vinyl LP, CD, MP3, perhaps even humanity itself has faded into oblivion, wind powered replay towers immortalize the infectious melodies of Jackson singles for centuries to come by employing the old technology of a mechanical music box. Replay towers can be constructed at any scale in various urban or rural sites across the globe, and perpetuate Jackson’s legacy by celebrating the genius of his work, rather than fetishizing the fleeting details of his personality or appearance.
