Built By Women is a competition that aims to bring the much-needed attention to women working in the traditionally male-dominated fields of architecture, engineering, and construction. Following a successful first run in New York City last year, the 2016 BxW competition moved down to the Washington D.C. area to celebrate projects there that were led by women in the AEC industry. Organized by the non-profit Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation (BWAF), the 2016 competition attracted over 110 nominations. The jury then selected 36 sites.
