Coming from the famed Guggenheim Helsinki Design Competition, the upcoming Guggenheim Helsinki Now exhibition will publicly showcase the six finalist designs starting on April 25 in Kuntshalle Helsinki. The exhibition will also feature interactive installations that present interpretive analyses of the data compiled from all 1,715 competition entries and 15 honorable mention proposals. And with the inevitable debate surrounding the proposed Guggenheim Helsinki museum, visitors can find out more about the project's potential impact.
On top of that, a public program of events for all age groups are in tow. For starters, architects Bjarke Ingels and Jeanne Gang will participate in the free opening-weekend programs on April 25 and 26 in Helsinki.
"On April 25, Bjarke Ingels, Founder/Principal of Bjarke Ingels Group, and Jeanne Gang, Founder/ Principal of Studio Gang Architects and a jury member for the Guggenheim Helsinki Design Competition, will deliver lectures on their work. A Q-and-A session will follow.
Then on the following day in "Difference and Repetition: A Roundtable on Architecture, Society, and Competition", Troy Conrad Therrien (Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum Curator of Architecture and Digital Initiative and curator of Guggenheim Helsinki Now) and Juulia Kauste (Director of the Museum of Finnish Architecture) will moderate a roundtable discussion about the function of competitions in contemporary architecture and the role of architects in modern society.
